I understand the power of words, being a copywriter and brand strategist but sometimes I feel a little sad for those inspirational digits of communication that we often take for granted.
Why do you say that you may ask? The power to state your business clearly is something we don’t always appreciate until we find ourselves unable to reach the people who might be interested in what we have to offer.
Its power is not just in relation to the receiver of your words. There is something about seeing your business in print that does something to the person whose business is being represented. Let me explain the first time I created a website and also a PDF of my services –I thought is that really me? But I’ve also seen this with clients. Something happens when you see your value in print; you go out into the world a little taller and relate to your customers just that little bit more confidently. Your words speak to your audience even if it’s through your behaviour.
It has always been easier to see the unique value of others than myself and I hold my hands up, I have a lot to learn when it comes to becoming visible for my business. Particularly when it relates to the non-written medium; video.
I have great admiration and respect for business owners who are actively utilising the medium on social media or their website. Having attempted it myself I am well aware that it’s not as easy as it looks. Lighting, audio, script, engaging the audience, rapport are all things to consider. As someone who likes a challenge (within reason) I have decided to give this video thing a go and let you all know about it.
At the moment I’m trying not to cringe every time I see or hear myself on camera. The script I have written keeps getting tweaked but once completed, I promise to upload the video onto my website for all to see. Want to join me?
